UNREPRESENTED PARTIES OR PRO-SE PARTIES:

  • Parties not represented by counsel may provide proposed orders and final judgments by hand-delivery to the Alachua County Family and Civil Justice Center, 201 East University Avenue, Room 202, Gainesville, FL 32601. Proposed orders and final judgments may be emailed to CoralesA@circuit8.org.
  • Parties not represented by counsel can elect to receive orders from the Court by electronic mail. To elect this you must fill out this form and file it with the Clerk of the Court.
  • If there are parties who have not consented to use of e-mail service, stamped addressed envelopes should be mailed or hand delivered to the Judicial Assistant, Ashlee Corales. Please clip the envelopes together, along with a sticky note that indicates the case name and case number.
  • Orders will not be entered until the motion has been docketed and imaged by the Clerk.
  • All orders or final judgments shall include a certificate of service at the bottom of the order. Please indicate the name of the party who is to receive the order, as well as that party’s e-mail/e-service address OR mailing address, if a hard copy is required.

ATTORNEYS: PROPOSED ORDERS and FINAL JUDGMENTS

  • Proposed Orders and Final Judgments shall submitted via the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal (https://www.myflcourtaccess.com). Please do not e-mail or send Proposed Orders, Motions, or supporting documentation by United States Mail. All paper filings by attorneys will be refused without processing.
  • Supporting documentation for the Motion shall be filed via the Florida Courts e-Portal. Please do not provide the Court with the supporting documentation. The Court will review the case filing system and review any supporting documentation electronically.

HEARING REQUESTS

Hearing requests are not accepted by telephone. Please email all hearing requests to CoralesA@circuit8.org.

TELEPHONIC APPEARANCES

Requests for telephonic appearances are NOT routinely granted. Any request will be considered on a case-by-case basis, given the circumstances of each case and each matter pending.  A motion for telephonic appearance must be filed with the Clerk of Court at least 5 BUSINESS DAYS before the hearing along with a copy e-mailed to CoralesA@circuit8.org.  In said motion, the party or attorney requesting a telephonic appearance MUST provide a direct telephone number for the Court to contact the attorney or party for the scheduled hearing.  Failure to provide a direct telephone number within the body of the Motion for Telephonic Appearance may result in the denial of the Motion.

EMERGENCY MOTIONS

A copy of any “Emergency” motion e-filed with the Clerk of Court and served upon opposing counsel should be provided to the Judge’s office for review by emailing CoralesA@circuit8.org in accordance with the procedures above. If the Court determines that a hearing should be granted, the Court will advise the moving party of an expedited date and time for the hearing.

ENVELOPES

Please be advised that all envelopes and postage provided by the parties become the property of the Eighth Judicial Circuit and if not used in the particular case provided, may be used in other cases.

EX PARTE EMAILS OR CORRESPONDENCE

Please note that the Code of Judicial Conduct governing behavior by judges forbids the judges of the Eighth Judicial Circuit to discuss pending cases with the public. Please do not call or email the Court expecting to speak with a Judge about any case. If you have a comment to make, please mail it to the Clerk’s Office. Please keep in mind that the Court is only allowed to consider arguments made in court and documents filed by actual parties to the case. They cannot ethically read or consider any other opinions or arguments about the case, and they cannot give legal advice. Thank you.
